Safbrew BE-256 (Formerly Abbaye) Belgian Ale Yeast
Description
Safbrew Abbaye is the quintessential Belgian yeast strain from Fermentis. It is defined by creating a fast fermentation, very high attenuation, high alcohol (up to 11%) tolerance, and provides subtle aromas with a balanced profile. Abbaye yeast is perfect for a wide range of beers including low alcohol session style beers to higher alcohol beers like Belgian Abbey styles and Belgian IPA's.

This strain is VERY similar to WLP530, Wyeast 3787 and Imperial Triple Double. It’s a great balance of that Belgian style fruit characteristic with just a hint of the phenolic backbone, all packed into a dry yeast! I love the balance that it gives, as I’m not a huge fan of the clove-y, phenolic strains, but you have to have it in a proper Belgian. This is perfect for the Belgian Blonde, our Oak Aged Tripel, and any belgian style that you want to accentuate fruit without having a completely overbearing Belgian yeast profile.
Fermentation Temperature: 59-68°F
