In the extract style of the Classic New Zealand Lager, this easy drinking lager beer is very similar to a pilsner with less bitter and an easy drinking, American lager type character. This beer showcases a very light New Zealand or Australian hop character with a mild bitter and a subtle whirlpool addition. We use Motueka in ours because we love the balanced flavor and character of light lime and pine needles, but this base recipe can be adapted to Galaxy or Nelson Sauvin with slightly different but delicious results. Simplicity is key, and this embodies the brilliance of easy drinking, New Zealand style beers.
If you can't ferment at lager temperatures, consider using WLP 1983, Wyeast 2112, Imperial Cablecar, or Omega Lutra to give you all of the lager quality without the wait of a more traditional German Lager strain.
