Dear fellow brewers,

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of BrewChatter after 10 wonderful years of serving our fellow brewers and community. Due to various unforeseen circumstances, we have made the difficult decision to shut down operations ending March 31st.

We want to express our deepest gratitude for your support, loyalty, and friendship throughout the years. We would not have been able to achieve such success without you, and we are truly grateful for the opportunities you have given us.

During the next couple weeks, we will be wrapping up any outstanding projects, having a massive liquidation sale and fulfilling any pending orders. We will do everything we can to minimize any inconvenience caused. Thank you again for your understanding and support during this difficult time.

Sincerely, Josh & RJ

Description

US Loral T90 Hop Pellets, 2 oz sealed package

Developed by the Hop Breeding Company, Loral was released in 2016 as a 'super noble' variety, combining the higher oil compositions of popular American hops with some of the more subtle, terroir characteristics of noble hops.  It was created by crossing Glacier with a male son of Nugget.

Usage

With consistently high Alpha Acids and low cohumulones, Loral shines as a bittering hop for any beer style, from pilsner to IPA.  Higher oil contents and a pleasant profile also make Loral ideal as both a late addition and dry hop variety that plays very well with other fruit forward hops.

Aroma and Flavor

Expect distinct floral characteristics from Loral, with a subdued earthy and herbal profile for counterpoint.  A lightly peppery quality and subtle lemon and dark fruit characteristics shine in later additions, while light pepper and very subtle earthy characteristics come through in the bittering profile.

Loral is one of my favorite of these new ‘Super Noble’ varieties, bred for higher alphas and a more prominent ‘noble’ profile.  That being said, Loral is way more fruit forward than you would expect from that description  It’s basically Hallertau Mittelfruh on steroids, but with a nice, balanced pepper/earth in the background and bright, floral lemon and dark fruit on the aroma.  Definitely worth adding to the lineup of modern, fruit forward hops like Galaxy, Azacca and Hallertau Blanc in your next pale ale or IPA.
