Hallertau Blanc - 1 lb
Description
German Hallertau Blanc T90 Hop Pellets, 1 Pound sealed bulk package
Hallertau Blanc was released in 2012 by the Hull farm in the Hallertau region of Germany in response to commercial brewers wanting newer and bolder hop varieties. This daughter of Cascade is grown in the Hallertau region of Germany.
Usage
Hallertau Blanc was bred as a 'modern' style aroma hop, and while it excels in that area, low cohumulones and moderate Alpha Acids show it as an ideal bittering hop as well. Expect big fruit and white wine characteristics from later additions. Ideal in American style IPA's of all kinds, this hop also shines in lighter Belgian styles, works well in wheat styles, and even pairs well with Brettanomyces fermentations by helping accentuate lighter, fruity flavors in some strains. This variety also performs well as a dry hop in ciders, meads, and other fruit-based fermentations.
Aroma and Flavor
Bursting with a multifaceted flavor and aroma profile, expect big and fruity white wine characteristics, reminiscent of pineapple, gooseberry and passionfruit. Lightly spicy and less dank than many Southern Hemisphere varieties, Hallertau Blanc still has a light, lemongrass-citrusy spice profile that balances and pushes forward the fruit for a clean, bright flavor and aroma.
