Gunpowder Green Tea, 4 oz
4 oz sealed package. The process of rolling the tea leaves to preserve quality and freshness results in a tea that has the look of gunpowder pellets. This high quality Chinese Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) delivers a full bodied cup with a lingering citrus flavor you are sure to love.
This is what we use as a base tea in our Kombucha Kit, as well as what we drink when we feel like a good cup of the green leaf! Can be used as a flavor adjunct to any beer, wine, mead, cider or spirit.
Directions for Infusion
Infuse tea with 180° F at a rate of 2 grams tea per 8 oz (1 cup) of water. For a 1 gallon kombucha base tea recipe, use 32 g (1.1 oz) in 1 gallon of boiling water. Steep tea for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on how strong you want it. Over 5 minutes of steeping will add an astringent characteristic to your tea or kombucha.
If using in a beer, whirlpool Gunpowder Green Tea leaves at 180 F for 3-5 minutes. If adding to any other fermentation, brew with water at 180 F, steeping leaves for 3 - 5 minutes, then cool and add to the rest of the fermentation. This will add flavor and complexity to any fermentation!
