English Roasted Barley
English Roasted Barley 488° – 713° L is a highly roasted barley, which is not malted before roasting. Contributes a very dry and acrid bitterness to any beer, comes across as distinctly roasty, and is quintessential in Dry Irish Stouts. For darker beers, use up to 5%. For Irish Red and lighter styles where you want a small amount of color, less that .5 - 2% will give you a distinct ruby red color.
