Description:

Briess MaltGems™ is produced in the USA.  This is an exceptionally clean version of Synergy Select Pilsen malt, but with the husks removed by Briess to bring out a cleaner malt character.  Expect exceptional lautering and brewhouse performance from Maltgems and a well rounded pilsner flavor.

With moderate enzyme levels and FAN, Maltgems provides a clean and consistent pils.  You can get 20% more malt in your mash tun because of the lack of flour and water binding husks, giving you the option to make higher gravity beers with less pain.

Please note that Maltgems is created using a proprietary process that includes milling at Briess Malting and ingredient Company, meaning that it always comes pre-milled to the maltsters specifications.

Note: Sold by the pound.

I’m very excited to use this malt!  It’s basically de-husked and perfectly milled by Briess to make sure that you can still sparge, but can also get 20% more in your mash tun.  It’s guaranteed to be super efficient, and just as deliciously tasty as the normal Briess Synergy Pils.  I think this will be the perfect base for Double IPAs because it’s light and clean and you can get more in your system so you don’t have to worry about supplementing with DME if you really want to go imperial.
