Description

Sold by the Pound.

Use Brewer€™s Rice Hulls to bolster your mash and create space in the mash tun so that you can lauter properly when you have a high percentage of adjuncts, like flaked corn or flaked oats, or husk-less grains, like wheat or rye.  These are a real life saver, especially if you are home brewing in a converted keg or with an All In One Brewing System like the BrewZilla or Zyborg!

Rice Hulls are also a wonderful resource for gardener€™s, and act as a sustainable substitute for perlite, adding space in the soil and helping with drainage.  If your soil is more clay than loam, add in a few pounds of rice hulls before you plant your hops!  They will appreciate the added drainage!  These will work for any and all bedding plants, vegetables, or whatever you€™re trying to grow!

Directions for Use

Add to the mash at a rate of 0.2 - 0.5 lbs per 10-14 lbs of grain when your grain bill has approximately 30% of husk-less or adjunct grains.

Add to the mash at a rate of 0.5 - 1.0 lbs per 10 - 14 lbs of grain when your husk-less or adjunct grains make up more than 30% of your grist.

Note:  You can add more rice hulls at any point during the mash without breaking anything, so don't be shy to add more to make your sparge run like it should!

Ok, I know that this seems like a no brainer, but there are still so many people that don't know that we have such an easy and helpful tool for the mash.  Rice Hulls will not impart any flavor, soak up a minuscule amount of water, and can single handedly SAVE your brew day!  The space that they create in the mash tun means no more stuck sparges, and can fix a stuck sparge in process.  They're cheap insurance for every brew day, especially if you're using an all in one brewing system like the BrewZilla.  Read more about troubleshooting in our BrewCranium article, and see if this super simple and cost effective solution fits your system!
