US Ahtanum Hop Pellets, 1 Pound sealed bulk package

Ahtanum hops, named for their original location in Yakima Valley before being grown commercially, was released in 1997, and gained fame later as it became heavily used in Stone Brewing Companys original Pale Ale.

Ahtanum can be used as a moderate bittering hop, but really shines in late additions and dry hop additions as sweet and earthy undertone to help push forward more citrusy varieties.  With a higher average beta acid content, this hop is ideal for bigger beers that require long term storage to mature.

Aroma and Flavor

With a refined flavor of sweet, earthy spice, Ahtanum also boasts some piney-citrus character.  Although it is an earthier hop, expect to pull sublte flavors like sweet geranium, apple blossoms, and the lightly fruity and earthy characters of elderflower, mixed with rich, fertile earth.
