
A43 Loki - Imperial Yeast
A traditional Norwegian strain that has an extremely wide fermentation temperature range. This strain has been traditionally used in farmhouse style beers however, due to its fermentation temp range can be used in a variety of beers from pseudo lagers, Belgian inspired, and hop forward beers. On the cool end of the range Loki is super clean; producing little to no esters. As things warm up, it tends to produce a huge fruit ester profile.

i have a question how much of liquid A43 yeast to add to my 1 gallon vanilla bochet mead?
You can use approximately 25% to 50% of the package, depending on how high gravity your bochet is. If you're using 1 - 2 pounds of honey per gallon, 25% is enough. Any more and you'll want to add 50%. Save the rest in a sanitized mason jar. You can keep this in the fridge for 2 - 3 weeks or so before pitching it into another batch, assuming your sanitation practices are sound. Please note that after you open a liquid yeast pack, there is always a chance of infection, so sanitize thoroughly!

You can definitely use Loki in a bochet! This kveik strain will definitely make a unique and authentic mead, no matter what style, and is up to the challenge of high gravity fermentations. You will still need to use Fermaid and DAP to help it along, but this is a great option. Other great options include Wyeast 4632 Dry Mead, Wyeast 4184 Sweet Mead, and White Labs 720 Sweet Mead.
